Historically, artists receive grants from the state to help compensate their time in creating public exhibitions; however, Keith desires for private participation and personal sponsorships on this venture; helping to create greater ownership.

Through fine art paintings, Keith Martin Johns plans to historically capture the Florida Cattle and Horse heritage; since the Spaniards brought a small herd of cattle and horses with them on their second expedition to the New World in 1521. Researching current recorded history, Keith's paintings will depict segments of time relating to the way of life in the early frontier days to the present Florida ranching heritage. Today, ranches environmentally protect some of the best wildlife habitat, wetlands and native landscapes in the state. Many ranches have changed little in the past 100 years. Culturally, they host important rural economies and lifestyles. Because Florida has the longest history of cattle ranching in the United States and today is home to six of the country's top ten beef ranches, Keith finds this subject vitally important to record as a living link to Florida's past with respects to the future generations; more objectively helping to expand his Florida Collection.
